Reports to: Dean of Students

Work Hours: Normal School hours

Pay Grade: $17-$22 per hour (max 8 hours per day)

 

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:
o High School Diploma (Required)
o Experience working with students (preferred)
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
o Reports to school office at beginning of school day to pick up required
materials/schedules of classes and at the end of the school day to return materials.
Follows sign out procedures as prescribed by the principal.
o Carries out a program of study prescribed in the lesson plans left by the classroom
teacher.
o Creates a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the
maturity and interests of the students.
o Guides the learning process toward the achievement of curriculum goals and objectives
as indicated in the lesson plans for the lessons, units, or projects assigned.
o Employs instructional methods and materials that are most appropriate for meeting
lesson objectives.
o Maintains a neat and orderly classroom. Straightens chairs, tables, clears chalkboard,
etc.
o Takes attendance in accordance with school procedures.
o Indicates behavior expectations in accordance with MSE  school policy to all students at
the beginning of class.
o Ensures that the students are never left unattended in the classroom.
o May perform duties usually required of absent teacher such as lunchroom duty, hall
monitoring, etc.
o Knows emergency evacuation routes for the classrooms assigned.
o Knows procedures for referring students who are disciplinary problems.
o Knows school procedures and regulations
o Performs other related duties as directed by the principal or DoS.

 

SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
o Ability to communicate effectively in both written and oral forms with all levels of
management, both internal and external to the district.
o Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships both internal and external
to the district.
o Ability to organize special programs for the district.
o Ability to use computer including software, database used by the district, spreadsheet
and word processing software, calculator, copy machine and telephone.
o Ability to analyze data
o Ability to use effective interview techniques, effective public speaking skills, and
problem-solving skills


WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
o Light Work: may require the occasional light lifting.
o Nights and weekend activities will be occasionally required.
o Position is in office setting and may involve prolonged work at a desk in one location.
o Moderate travel is required.
